Lush 12 Days of Christmas unboxing πŸŽ

Hello everyone! And Happy December! πŸŽ„ I can’t quite wrap my head around it yet, but I can feel the countdown is on! December is my favourite month (not just because of my birthday hehe) but because of all the festivities and family getting together ❀️

I was dancing with excitement when I got my Lush 12 Days of Christmas in the mail. Now I felt a tad silly because I had convinced myself that this product was an advant calendar, which it is not. It is in fact a gift box that happens to be filled with 12 fabulous Lush goodies of all varieties. I wasn’t disappointed at all, if fact I was a bit excited that I got to smell EVERYTHING and get a first impression all at once.

So without further ado this is the lovely Lush 12 Days of Christmas Gift Box

Lush does such an amazing job with their packaging, it’s almost impossible to ever recycle any of it! They do state that this is a reusable hat box, so I will definitely be reusing it.

What’s inside?

I was so pleasantly surprised to see that the Lush pre packaging had a little makeover. Any soft items is are sealed in recyclable plastic, which stopped any wear or tear on them, which was one of my only pet peeves with ordering online.

Everything smells amazing in this box, and it’s truly a wonderful gift for anyone (including yourself 😜) It’s filled will all the classic Lush treats that we all know and love, as well as some new ones that will steal your heart!

For a full list of names and ingredients you can find them HERE πŸŽ…

I have to say my 3 favourites so far from the box are: Golden Pear Soap , Santa’s Christmas shower cream, and Shoot for the Stars bah bomb.

Have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by! 😊

Fun question of the week: My brother thinks you should wait until December 1st before you drink any eggnog or listen to Christmas music. Do you agree?

(I’m on the opposing side since I’ve already been listening to Christmas music a bit and had eggnog :p)

My Week in Instagram Pics

Hello everyone! 😘

A picture can say a thousand worlds…. excuse for that cliche haha. But really, these picture posts are one of my absolute favourites to do, so if you’re not interested in seeing a bit more into my life this may not be your jam. However if you like looking at random aesthetically pleasing pictures, you’re in the right place!

~ Sunday to Sunday ~

I think because it’s been such a dreadful week weather wise, getting to work on something like photography has really brightened it up! Whether it’s my best camera being used, or a quick outfit snap I’ve been really loving it. I hope you enjoy this little post too. Not all of the pictures are brand new, like I said Instagram is fairly new to me on the blogging front.

Anyhoo happy Monday Munchkins! πŸ˜›

Let me know if you like seeing these posts πŸ™‚

Stormy Sunday Outfit Of the Day β˜”️

Hello loves!

I was greeted with blustery weather today and did not want to leave bed! πŸ’€

However, one heroic mug of coffee later and here I am!

Excuse my chippy polish, I’m very overdue for a manicure!

On days like this I giggle because I feel like I roll out of bed, and then find an outfit that is as cozy as possible to feel like I’ve never left! Does anyone feel that way?

To start, I’ve been living in my chunky knit sweater from Forever 21. It’s slightly cropped but still long enough to cover the stomach and feel cozy.

Next I am loving my fingerless gloves! As always if you’re a photographer, or anything that requires nimble fingers these gloves are the way to go.

Lastly are a few items that are my makeup favourites.

The e.l.f lipstick in the shade ‘Praline’. The perfect cool tone nude.

E.l.f eyeshadow trio in ‘Brown Bonanza’.

Last but not least my Matt and Nat wallet, and some cute 90’s-ish palm tree beaded earrings.

Have a fabulous Sunday everyone and I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

What’s In My Handbag?

Do people still do these blog posts? Seems they were all the rage a few years ago, and I still love reading and watching people do them!

Something about getting a glimpse into what really is an everyday necessity for the beauty gurus of the internet is so darn interesting. Maybe I’m just nosey? Who knows!

For starters I’ll share with you what my purse looks like πŸ‘œ (I am giggling now because I realize my purse looks very similar to the purse emoji πŸ˜‚)

See? Now you see it too!

Anyhoo, it’s a David Jones Bag and it was a Christmas gift about 2 years ago. Also I’m not a designer savvy person, so I have no idea the value, I just love the bag.

To go with the bag is a rather funny story. My brother was the one who bought it for Christmas, and originally gave it to my mum. For me he got a nice shoulder bag, very pretty and dainty. However, as Christmas Day went on, mum and I had realized we were secretly eyeing up each others bags and decided to switch. Of course we asked to make sure it was ok and boom! Here we are 2 years later, still so in love with the design and everything! It also comes with a shoulder strap but I tend to cram it so full of stuff it’s too heavy for my shoulder.

Onto the good stuff!

As you can see I basically carry a back up for anything that might happen during the day.

~My planner/ calendar in case I need to save a date or write down an idea. I am VERY good at forgetting dates and numbers so this is my lifeline.

~ Fingerless mittens, because I like my hands warm but let’s be real, it’s impossible to really do anything with mittens on.

~ Deodorant (because even the best of us need a freshen up sometimes)

~ Also a small rollerball perfume, which is perfect for a handbag because no accidental spritzing will happen. Mine is by Sarah Jessica Parker and it’s called ‘Lovely’.

~ Hair pins/ ties. I have a million of them and I use all million of them.

~ Makeup. I always have at least 3 lipsticks for some reason, as well as coverup for touch ups, and powder to stop that shine, and a dense powder brush.

~Hand sanitizer.

~ Advil. This might be an odd one but as someone with very terrible cramps, and a weird tendency to get headaches I’ve learned to never leave the house without it. Plus Its nice to come to someones rescue if they need one.

~ Headphones. 2 pairs to be exact because apple just HAD to change the headphone jack on the iPhone. I’m not bitter or anything…

~ My iPod nano. To me there’s nothing worse that A. Waiting somewhere with no music, or B. Being stuck with the radio in a car. Gotta have your tunes!

~ My wallet by Matt and Nat. It’s cream and rose gold so I had to get it. Lasted me 3 years and going strong! I literally just use this to carry my debit card, license and the plethora of points cards I insist I need.

~Chapstick/lip balm. I am actually impressed there was only one in my bag this time, usually I have about 20.

~Lastly my glasses + case. The biggest sign that I was finally an adult was when I realized the importance of a case for your glasses. Whether I want to swap from contacts to glasses or the other way around I can’t leave home without both.

I am just realizing now that I forgot my iPhone in this picture but usually my iPhone is firmly planted where I %100 know where it is, in my pocket or in my hand lol. Ive had a phone stolen from me and it’s the worst feeling in the world.

Thanks s always for stopping by! HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!

My Autumn in Photos πŸ“·

Hello loves!

How are we doing on this splendid day?

I thought I would share some photos with you today that represent a little slice of my life.

I’m usually geared very much towards the beauty and makeup side of my blog, but that tends to leave out my lifestyle and anything that kinda lets you get to know me. Plus, if you’re a photography buff like me, you may appreciate this post just for that πŸ™‚

Autumn is such a wonderful time to me, representing change and the slowing of seasons (until Christmas that is) which makes it one of my favourite ones to photograph. It’s still light out for the most part until daylight savings (hello extra hour of sleep πŸŽ‰) and the colours are breathtaking. It’s like watercolour comes to life!

I can’t help but love the sudden shift in the last 4 photos! It’s like Canada said “Okay Halloween is over now? Say hello to my friend Winter!”

The snow lasted 4 days which was nice, alas it has all melted now. I don’t mind though, just makes me look forward to the next snowfall! And incase you’re wondering the book is an enviromentally frindly guide to all things Christmas.

I hope everyone has been enjoying their day!

Fall Outfits! πŸŽƒ πŸ

Oh my goodness! It’s officially Autumn! πŸŽƒ

Hello lovely peeps, and a big cozy hug to you all. Is everyone as excited for this fall season as I am? I absolutely love summer and couldn’t bare to say goodbye to it but I am always excited for changing seasons.

I feel kinda lucky living in Canada our holidays are a bit more spaced apart (we celebrate Thanksgiving in early October if you didn’t know) and it just makes the colder months extra exciting because it feels like there’s some kind of fun to look forward to every couple of weeks πŸ™‚

I am looking forward to the local Oktober fest we have in our little town every year, and on the same day is the last farmers market, so usually some yummy seasonal goodies are being sold, whether it’s cookies or tea or scarves. I just can’t wait! πŸ‚

Now that I’ve blabbed on about life, I wanted to talk about fall fashion. The layers, the plaid, the boots, what is not to love!

I’ve collected some of my favourite fall looks I’ll be repping this season, and take you through the brands and why they’re my favourite!

I want to start casual. Cozy, comfy, and flexible for day to day and everything in-between.

BLOG SHOT 4BLOG SHOT 5 A chunky sweater and a good pair of boots are the start to many great Autumnal outfits. Along with that a good pair of jeans or tights tie it all together. I’m not usually a jeans wearer, but I have my favourite faded high wasted pair on today. To finish it off, a chunky heeled boot. You could easily swap it out for a smaller heel too.

Sweater: Forever 21

Jeans: H&M

Boots: Josef Seibel

And my glasses are Eleanor Liz frames if anyone was wondering hehe.

FALL BLOG 1FALL BLOG SHOT 2 I wanted to try something different from my usual picks. I love a good printed dress, and the fact that this one is a fall themed floral makes it perfect to dress up, or dress down. I can see this being worn with a leather jacket to dress it up, or a jean jacket to make it more casual.

Dress: Old Navy (2 years ago)

Knit socks: Forever 21

Boots: From Mark’s Wearhouse.

Wish I knew what brand but unfortunately the label is worn off inside

😦

BLOG SHOT 3BLOG SHOT 3 copy This last outfit is creeping into my favourites of the season. I have fallen in love with maxi dresses and long skirts over the last few months. They’re just so cozy and flexible to style. This particular combo gives me a real Autumn in Paris vibe (not that I’ve ever been there but its on the bucket list :D)

Shirt: Forever 21

Skirt: LIZ CLAIBORNE Classic collection

Boots: Rieker (another pair of boots I’ve had for years, but they’re so comfy and durable)

As always thank you so much for reading! I really appreciate taking your time to visit

and like! (And even follow ❀️)

What are your favourite things about Autumn? Please let me know in the comments! πŸ˜πŸ‚

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Disappointing Drugstore Products…

Hello loves!

Anyone who knows me, is aware that I try to be a very positive person. I try to find the up side in everything, and stay away from negativity.

That is one of the big reasons I have avoided doing any blog posts like this, but I have realized as a writer and an avid beauty lover sometimes you have to share a little critique.

Yes, I have made a list of what I consider disappointing beauty products. Now I understand all our opinions and experiences may different , so I want to state this is merely my opinion and what I like/dislike will differ from what others think. πŸ™‚

(I laughed as I was taking the following pictures because I felt like I was taking mugshots of all the products πŸ˜‚)

<<<<
irst disappointment really hit hard with the Physicians Formula 'Glow and Mood Boosting Blush. I had heard so many rave reviews about this brand so I thought I would try them out. I feel like I got very sucked into the hype with this product. Along with the blush I bought a Pearl Highlighter, which I have given away due to my dislike towards that product as well. From first swatch this blush had no pigmentation to it. I decided to use my brush and try it on my cheeks. It took forever to get any colour pay off, and on top of that, by the second time I went to use it, it had this weird layer on it that made it impossible to get any product out. I tried scraping it with a eyebrow brush to get it off but it continued to 'crust over' no matter what I did. I am willing to give Physicians Formula another try, but I need some great recommendations before I spend any more dollars on their products.

πŸ’€ The next product was another hype I got seriously sucked into, and that was the Katy Kat Matte lipsticks by Katy Perry. This was another product I was disappointed by the first swatch. I have tried far better matte lipsticks for way cheaper too. At first swatch, I thought it was the weirdest matte lipstick I had ever tried. It wasn't matte at all, it was more of a gritty lipstick. While the colour is beautiful, the lipstick goes on so patchy it's impossible to appreciate the colour. Along with that, when it finally dries out matte, it has gunked up in the corners of my mouth and the middle of my lips.

πŸ’€ Next is the Marcelle 'Flawless Skin Fusion Concealer'. When I bought this I was looking for a great under eye, semi full coverage concealer. I was thinking, if I buy a pricier drugstore Concealer, it only makes sense it would be better quality right? No. What I got was not that at all. The name 'Skin Fusion' lead me to believe it would blend in nicely with my skin. That wasn't the case. I applied the product in my problem areas and began blending. To my surprise, by the time I had began blending the concealer had already oxidized and stared to dry on my skin, leaving a weird outline where I applied it. On top of that, as you can see in the picture it has started to separate, and it hasn't been long from the last time I used it (which was yesterday afternoon) I have never seen a concealer do that before. On the bright side I have found it is ok for carving out a cut crease, and will strictly use it for such. I am definitely sticking to good ol Maybelline Fit Me concealer.

πŸ’€ Next up is another popular product that I know not everyone will agree with me on. It is the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara. I will keep it short by saying it's just way to chunky and thick of a mascara for me. I know some people love wearing thick mascara, but after the first time I tried to wash this off, I knew I wouldn't like it. I love having thick lashes, but this crumbled off the brush every time I used it, falling in my eyes and all over my face. Perhaps I got a bad batch? (Is that possible lol?) I know that Zoe Sugg swears by it, but as much as she is my hero, I just can't bring myself to like it.

πŸ’€ Lastly, and most surprisingly is a NYX product. I know I've probably said before that I've never found a NYX product I don't like…well I take it back. This is the NYX Colour Correcting Concealer palette. I was very intrigued by the concept of colour correction. I personally have lots of redness on my face and have always tried to combat that. When I used this palette I was waiting to see the difference in my foundation, but ended up being so disappointed… and slightly green. The Concealer itself does not blend out well. It doesn't sink into the skin, but sits on top of it. Along with the patchiness of it, it is a very greasy concealer as well, making me look even worse in my T-Zone. I kept this palette for my FX makeup (hence why all the green is gone) thinking the colours could make a good base for Special FX bruising.

So that is is! My blacklist items…. I'm only kidding! These personally did not work for me at all, but I'd like to hear if you've tried any of these and what you think of them!

Cheers!

My Favourite Candles from Summer

Hello everyone!

The days are getting shorter, and the leaves are starting to change colour. While most people would groan waking up to a grey dark day, my eyes lit up with excitement, watching bright leaves fall in contrast to the sky. What does all this poetic mumbo jumbo mean? It’s Autumn!

I mean not ‘officially’ yet, but it sure feels like it. My favourite thing to do for each season is bring out my seasonal bedding and all my favourite candles. Which means putting away my summer selection, which I loved so dearly.

So, I thought I would tell you my official favourite candles from the summer!

After today all my Autumn favourites will take its place! What are some of your favourite candle scents?

(On a side note, I am having a giggle with myself, if anyone has watched Scream Queens you will know who Candle Blogger is from that show, and I always laugh at myself when I rave about my candles because I know I sound just like her πŸ˜‚)

Anyhow, I’ve narrowed it down to 6 ( still laughing over here because I sound like a candle obsessed lunatic)

To add to my insanity, I actually burn my candles throughout different parts of the summer, so I’ll start fro the top!

🌺 In the beginning of the summer I love fresh fruity scents. Anything that’s sweet and colourful, I want my room and house to be fun and fresh. With that being said, my favourite ‘early summer’ candle to burn is Georgia Peach. I love it because it reminds me of peach cider, and when summer hits you know the peach cider will be flowing. I don’t live near the Okanagan, but this candle is what I imagine the peach orchards to smell like in the summer.

🌺 As summer bursts, and the heatwave hits, I love anything that reminds me of the beach. Pink Apple Punch, and Coconut Leaves combined is like bringing the beach home with you. Coconut Leaves is a light scent of coconut and fresh air, similar to that of sunscreen and ocean breezes. Pink Apple Punch is super sweet and fruity, just like popsickles! The two combined I can imagine smell like a day at the beach!

🌺 Lastly, as summer quiets down, lazy days are plentiful. The kind where you just sit back and finally breath. Sun Soaked Sandalwood is the exact candle that makes me feel that calm warm feeling. The sandalwood in it is light and calming, while other hidden smells remind me of fresh linen.

Next is Bergamot waters, which smells exactly as the name describes. I imagine this candle is what a lake side cabin would smell like in late summer πŸ™‚

And last of the last is Farmstand Apple. It smells of apples. What more can I say? At the end of the summer our Apple trees are drooping with fresh apples, and when we pick them their rich smell fills the air. This candle is like having that apple trees right in your room. I have never smelt anything so spot on to fresh apples. Its definitely my favourite time of summer when the Apple picking begins, and this candle embodies that excitement 🍎

I hope you enjoy this post! I know it’s different from my usual beauty and fashion, but I can’t hide my candle obsession anymore!

Hope you’re having a lovely Sunday and I’ll be here again soon!

On a parting note, here’s a picture of my adorable succulent I recently planted 🌱

August Favorites!

Hello everyone!

Its been a good while since I’ve done a favourites post hasn’t it? For such a long time I wasn’t using any new products, and was very much in a rut. Now I’m here to share what my staples of August have been!

I must note, usually around this time I start thinking about Autumn and getting excited, but we’ve just been hit with a September heat wave, so I’m still in full summer mode.

I found a new beach very close to me, and it’s so beautiful and sandy, I’ve practically been living there.

This is not the longest favourites post I’ve done, but an honest one for sure!

To start, I was having some trouble with my skin as you all may know. It felt like something was missing from my routine and I didn’t know what. My friend Baylee let me try one of her face masks one night and I instantly loved the benefits it had on my skin. It had really helped my problem areas, and filled the void in my skincare regime.

The face masks I bought are by a brand called Freeman, and I got the Renewing Cucumber (great for rejuvenating your skin) and the Sweet Tea and Lemon Clay mask (intense peel for removing impurities) Both of these masks are wonderful and actually do what they say on the label, as well as being a very satisfying peel of mask.

I was first most impressed by the price. I got them on sale for $4.99 each, and at regular price they are $5.32. It’s a great deal regardless considering the amount of product and the quality of it. I’m almost addicted to peel off masks now!

Now I couldn’t do this post without saying what scents I have been wearing for basically the whole summer season.

They are, Waikiki Beach Coconut, and Fiji Pineapple Palm from Bath and Body Works. Both of these scents are fresh and fruity, giving me a little boost of happy whether it’s first thing in the morning or just before going out for a meal. I love wearing them, spritzing them in my bathroom and even in my car.

On the topic of smells, I’ve been burning this candle from Bath and Body Works all August. It smells EXACTLY like fresh apples, and gives me so much joy. I love the apple tree outside my house and the way it smells when the apples are ripe. This candle brings that smell inside my house too. This is just my top pick of many candles I’ve been burning this summer. (Perhaps a summer candle post on its way?)

My last picks are *drumroll* makeup products! Woohoo!

I’ve been so footloose and fancy free the last few weeks I have my skin a major break from any makeup products. But getting back into the game I found two products that I can’t get enough of. Funnily enough both of them I use on my eyes as well as the face. The first is a Bronzer from CiatΓ© London, and I use it to contour my face. Being so pale I find it hard to find the right shade of contour and I find this one to be perfect.

Secondly I’ve been glowing it up with this highlighter by Luna. It looks like a strange shade, but goes on the skin beautifully, and is a dream for cool skin tones. As you can see they both swatch so easily and last all day.

I hope everyone is enjoying the last bit of summer! Please let me know what you’ve been loving this summer too! And I will talk to you guys soon! ❀️
