Artwork Update: Airbrushing! 🎨

Hello everyone! Remember me? …. maybe?

Well I’m back to share what I’ve been so busy working on (and essentially what’s been taking up my time causing me to *ahem* …neglect this blog 😅)

I started Airbrushing classes in school and time just seems to fly by. It’s been the most incredible time of my life and I still can’t believe that I’m so lucky I get to go to school for this. 😆

I’ve been posting a lot on my Instagram but I have completely forgotten to share here. I know a few of you follow me but in case you don’t my Insta is @missmmua 😘

Learning airbrushing has been the most difficult task so far but the most rewarding. I’m still SO new to it, so if you’re a pro, yes I know these aren’t amazing or industry standards yet but they are huge accomplishments for me 😆 I love learning it, especially because I have a great teacher who is so knowledgeable in her field and will always be honest with how your work looks.

A•I•R ~ B•R•U•S•H

Starting from my first time Airbrushing the body, to my most recent creation.

(Like I said… not a pro, I just like using platforms to keep track of my progress 😊)

I can totally see a pink/purple/blue theme happening 😂 I’ll have to work on trying more colours. I just happen to love that colour combo and it’s the colour palette I’m using for my final exam so the more practice with it the better right? 🤷🏼‍♀️

May Favourites 🌵

Hello everyone!

It feels like I just did a favourites post! I have no idea where time has gone. 😱

April and May have gone by in a blink and I’m not sure how I feel about that haha! Looking back they were 2 of the best months I’ve had in a long time and things just keep getting better! I’ve been cleansed of many nuisances and reconnected with myself and what makes me truly happy. I got to put my priorities first for the first time in a long time, and I feel like myself again.

Life update over haha! Onto this May’s favourites! This month is heavy on skincare and home decor.

My first favourite has been my saving grace at school and at home for removing makeup. It is the Garnier Micellar Water in the normal to sensitive formula.

At school, we are putting on makeup and taking it off all the time. Sometimes 2 or 3 times a day! We have to do it quickly but thoroughly, and that can be a tough combination to find in a skin cleanser.

This is so gentle yet removes all the makeup and dirt from my skin in one soft sweep. I feel polished and clean after but not dried out.

Next will be no shock at all and it is The Ordinary skin care line, specifically Buffet, the Caffeine Solution, and my newest love the 100% Plant-Derived Squalane hydrating oil.

I have already raved about Buffet and the Caffeine Solution in this blog post HERE

The 100% Plant Derived Squalane Oil has really changed my skincare in ways I never thought it could. I have always had dry-ish skin and thought that it was normal. Never getting better, but never getting worse. One day our teacher was raving about how amazing the Squalane oil was and how it was a perfect primer to put on before makeup. I couldn’t help but be in awe at the effects it had on our skin and bought it the first chance I had. I’ve been using it every night and its provided SUCH relief to my skin! I wish I knew about it sooner. It is a thin oil that you smooth on your skin after moisturizing (I use it just before bed). I have seen such a difference I feel like it has rekindled my love of wearing makeup because my skin looks so amazing and healthy. This is definitely my #1 favourite for May and will probably continue on into June 😛

My next two favourites are homeware items and will be no surprise to you if you follow me on Instagram or here. They are the Coconut Leaves candle from Bath and BodyWorks, and my cute Cactus Mason Jar cup that I picked up from the dollar store. I love the fresh tropical scent of the Coconut Leaves candle, I never get tired of it. Along with that, my Cactus Mason Jar cup is just the perfect vessel for a mojito cocktail or mocktail.

Next, I have totally gotten back into making my own face masks! It’s so satisfying to create your own customized face mask and to know all the ingredients are organic and ethically sourced. This mask specifically is made with Spirulina Algae.🌿

May’s favourites were definitely very skincare heavy but it has been paying off! I feel like a brand new person!

Hope you had a fabulous month of May! Did any of my favourites make it on your list too? 😛

The Best Detox Mask 🌿🌱

Hello everyone!

How are you doing on this fine, fabulous Friday? 😊

Today I wanted to share with you my favourite holy grail face mask. It not only removes impurities but adds antioxidants and important nutrients back into the skin.

I wanted to call it something funny like ‘Mean Greeny’, but I didn’t think it would be a very attractive title 😂 Instead I will call it the Best Detox Mask! (ever?)

For the base, I started with Bentonite Clay which is the most common ingredient in clay masks. It is a lightweight clay that is best used to rid your pores of any dirt, oil, or lingering toxins. Secondly, this clay helps with the healing of acne and can help lighten past acne scars.

Like I said this mask is all about being green! So it was a no-brainer to add Spirulina Algae to the mix. This algae, in particular, is a powerhouse of antioxidants which can reduce signs of ageing and are just important for the general well being of our skin, after all the epidermis is the largest organ we have! Spirulina algae are also filled with amino acids which help with the hydration of the skin and help with the elasticity.

If you don’t have Spirulina Algae lying around the house, Spinach can even be a good substitute since it is also high in antioxidants and vitamins.

Lastly, if you want this to be a healing mask as well as a detoxing one, adding honey can add a whole new list of benefits. Honey is best known for its antibacterial qualities making it amazing for soothing and healing acne. It also contains antioxidants that help slow the ageing of our skin, AND last but not least, gives your skin that wonderful glow afterwards.

I felt such a difference after using this face mask I would not speak about it so passionately if it didn’t help as much as it did! More amazingly I can’t believe it was (kind of) a fluke haha! I try many different recipes and some flop (very hard) and some work wonders. This just happens to be one of the lucky ones!

I also feel very strongly about using organic and ethically sourced ingredients too, so when I make my own face masks I know exactly where the ingredients are coming from, and the quality of them.

A big shout out to Oleum Vera for being an amazing organic brand that makes amazing starter kits so you can create your own face masks. (No this is not sponsored by them 😛 I wish haha!)

Let me know if you guys like more of these skincare posts, I certainly love writing them and sharing my experiences 🙂

Have a wonderful Friday everyone!

Outfit For A Day on the Boat 🐳

Hello loves!

I know the first day of summer isn’t for another month, but today feels pretty darn close!

We are going on the first boat ride of the season today and I am so excited. 🐳

I really am a country girl at heart and going out into nature is my favourite way to unplug, relax, and find some quiet time.

I wanted to do a quick little outfit of the day since I’m wearing one of my favourite lazy-lounging outfits. Does anyone else have that? Outfits that are super comfy but dressier than sweats or PJ’s? I feel like I always go for them. 😆

I am also just realized that I’m basically dressed head to toe in H&M or Forever 21. 😅

No makeup day today. 😘

Hat: H&M

Jean Shirt: Forever 21

Pink T-shirt: H&M

Sweat Pants: Forever 21

Shoes: Denver Hayes

Watch: Fit Bit (gotta count those steps!)

Time to hit the water! 🐳🎉

If you live in Canada I hope you have a fabulous May Long Weekend 😊

And everyone else in the world have a wonderful Saturday too!

Makeup for a Hot Summer Day… ☀️ How to Make It Last 💄✌️

I’ve been trying to think of a much shorter, more intriguing title than this but I’m coming up blank for now 😅

We’ve had our first heat wave in Vancouver, and I’m trying not to complain about it since we just survived our usual 7 months of winter.

My favourite part of summer is that everything seems so much more special. Any night of the week becomes a good night to grab a gelato on the pier, and the only reason is because of the beautiful weather. We all celebrate it!

Well… most of us. The select few of us makeup lovers may see it as a very hot, melty time not to be celebrated. I personally love getting dolled up to go out but the heat admittedly can get in the way.

So I thought I’d share my favourite ‘heatproof’ makeup and tips with you today! This is what I’ve been wearing the last week and a half and it’s perfect to wear casually or spruce it up a bit for an evening out. 🥂 (I don’t know why I use this emoji so much because I never drink haha, it just looks like a cute/fun emoji 😝)

I love dewy foundations and my two favourites to use are the Nars Sheer Glow and the Clinique Moisture Surge (SPF 15). I do think it is important to find a foundation with a good SPF, and to find a formula that works for you. A lot of the time when Sunscreen is added to foundation it tends to change it. I found the Clinique to be my personal perfect fit. Sometimes it just takes a bit of searching! Keeping our skin protected from the sun is so important! Clinique has a light to medium coverage and Nars has medium to full coverage being very buildable.

When it comes to Summer, I find sheer coverage to be more comfortable on the skin. I’m not looking for major coverage because I find that my skin becomes much more healthy in the warm weather. Do you guys have that happen too?

Like I said the key is to keep it light. To me, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. The more you put on, means more product to potentially cake up. (I’m not saying that full face coverage is bad, this is just what works for me personally :p)

Only conceal areas that really need it, and set everything with a light loose setting powder right away. To me having a loose setting powder is the most important tip. Compact powders tend to be full of fillers (that’s how they stick together in the pan) and that filler gunk is what makes makeup look cakey. My favourite cheapy loose powder is the e.l.f High Definition Undereye setting powder, but I use it all over my face too. It’s mostly matte, but there’s a tiny bit of glitter they snuck in there that is barely noticeable.

I like my concealer to also act as a highlighter, hence why I adore the Match Perfection Concealer from Rimmel. It has a light consistency but is very pigmented, which makes it look so flawless under the eye while still being so thin. I don’t know what they do with the formula but I keep re-buying it!

Along with an undereye highlight, I take this opportunity to use a highlight all over my face (it almost acts as an extra setting powder). For this, I love the e.l.f baked highlighters. They aren’t too intense so you can apply them all over and they look spectacular.

For the bronzer/contour, a simple matte bronzer does the trick. I like to use a matte bronzer for a look like this so it doesn’t look too ‘busy’ on the face. My favourite right now is from Ciaté and its the Bamboo Bronzer.

For hot days I avoid any undereye liner or anything that might smudge at the *literal* blink of an eye.

It might sound crazy, but all I wear on my eyes is either a little bit of the same bronzer I am wearing or a bit of the highlight. It looks natural and pleasing to the eye, especially for a natural look like this. I won’t blab on about the mascara, it’s just my favourite mascara. 😛

Now the lips are a different story. In fact, they’re the total opposite. I keep them matte, budge-proof and smudge proof. There’s nothing worse than trying to sip on your favourite iced delicacy and having to put your mouth on that weird ring of lipstick that we get on the straw. Nope, not today. I want that cupids bow staying where it needs to be and not melting off.

It’s a no-brainer that the Colourpop liquid lipsticks are my go-to lipstick for these days. They don’t budge (unlike their disappearing label haha) and they aren’t heavily drying on the lips. My fave right now is Bumble. 💋

My last items are not related to makeup at all but help with the scorching heat. I keep a small perfume rollerball in my purse just for extra freshening up. I always like to have a perfume on hand just in case, especially now that the busses are getting hotter. Right now my favourite has been Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. I think the reason I love it so much is because I wore it to Los Angeles last summer and now it always reminds me of that trip!

Lastly, a cool pair of shades are always the finishing touch. Believe it or not, these came from the dollar store and I’m not afraid to admit it!

The weather keeps getting nicer, and I keep getting happier!

The Ordinary Skincare Brand Review

Hello loves!

Today I wanted to chat about a new skin care purchase of mine.

Since I’ve been going to school I’ve been exposed to so many new products and beauty brands. Along with that, I am so lucky to be surrounded by very knowledgeable people in terms of makeup, skincare and beauty in general.

The one brand that stood out as a winner for everyone was The Ordinary. I had never tried them before or even heard of them. My first assumption was that it must cost a pretty penny if it works that well for everybody and can be found in beauty boutiques. That’s where I was wrong! It is by far one of the most affordable skin care lines I’ve seen. I bought these 2 items without breaking the bank.

The item I wanted most was the Caffeine Solution. It was raved about as a holy grail for everyone so I had to see what the hype was all about. Basically how it works is: the caffeine stimulates the blood flow under your eyes reducing the darkness, and reducing any puffiness. Quite genius when you think about it, it’s like an extra shot of espresso for your under eyes. Rise and shine! ☀️

The other serum that I bought is called ‘Buffet’. The name really explains it all as it is a buffet of amazing ingredients. It’s an anti-aging serum that contains Peptides, Probiotics, Amino Acids, the list goes on! While I am still young and not needing to worry about anti-aging products yet, it also helps with many other things like the elasticity in your skin. It is a deep moisturizer containing Hyaluronic Acid, and also helps with the overall texture of your skin.

So, now we get to the really good stuff. I’ve been using it for roughly a week and a half. At first I wondered how quickly I’d see any results (if any). It’s hard when you see yourself every day, so you don’t always notice a difference. I started to notice my usual hormonal breakouts were not as bad, and the blemishes disappeared quicker. Once you apply it, you can feel it work all day/ all night. It sinks deep into the skin instead of sitting on top, or disappearing like other serums do.

The caffeine solution has done as promised and so far my under-eyes look a whole lot healthier and brighter. When allergy season hits I often get itchy swollen eyes. I have been noticing that the caffeine solutions helps reduce the swelling, and has slowly diminished the dark circles. Not only is that great for my self confidence, but it’s made wearing my contacts more comfortable which is an odd discovery!

I apply moisturizer after letting the solution sink in and it feels amazing. I read some reviews of people saying it dried out their under eye, but I haven’t found it to do that at all. I think because I do apply my moisturizers after the serum, it might help. 🤷🏼‍♀️😁

I was also intrigued by the style of packaging they come in. The glass dropper makes it easy to apply and the glass tip is very cold and soothing when I apply it under my eye. I’m not sure if that’s the intended purpose but that’s how I’m enjoying it. 😂

Each bottle contains a whopping 30 ml, and a little goes a very long way. In terms of price, product quality, and packaging this line of skin care is a winner.

The Caffeine Solution retails at $6.70 CAD, and Buffet at $14.80 CAD.

I would love to know if anyone else has heard of this brand? I have to credit my lovely classmates for telling me about this brand! ❤️ you ladies are a rad bunch. 😘

Hope everyone is having a fabulous Saturday! 💋

Putting Together My NYX Profession Palette 🎨

Hello loves! How are you doing today? 😊

Last weekend was bursting with fun because I was in Vancouver celebrating my friends birthday. Not only did we indulge in fun birthday activities, but we all took a well-deserved visit to the NYX Professional Makeup store downtown.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted with the most fun/helpful/upbeat staff ever, AND it was their 1 year anniversary for the location so they had an amazing little gift with every purchase. NYX is just killin’ it in my opinion and the staff at that location are out of this world.

So I left with my very own hand-selected palette. As a makeup artist (in training) and being a bit of a newbie, this was so dang fun and I can’t wait to go back. That store is an MUA’s paradise! ❤️

The first thing I loved was that each eyeshadow came in its own adorable envelope with the names on the front.

I was trying to really plan my palette responsibly and pick colours I need and knew I’d love for sure. Also some colours I just thought were too fun to pass up.

I had so much fun swatching every colour and chatting with the lovely gals. They told me all of their favourite colours so I was sure to grab some of their recommendations too.

After swatching the shadows I was thoroughly impressed. The matte/light shadows are not chalky and are very soft. I found that finding a good wash for the eyelid is essential to a great look so I splurged on 2 great colours called ‘Immaculate’ and ‘Sin’.

Next, I was overwhelmed by the glorious shimmers. The first one that caught my eye was ‘Liquid Gold’. Boy, is that true to its name. It’s so pigmented but has minimal fallout. I felt my jaw actually drop as I swatched it in the store. The only shadow that has a slightly different formula is the bright green one called ‘Venom’. This one is still pigmented and glittery, it just seems to come off in a chunk when you swatch it like the formula was made a bit softer.

All the colours follow true with their amazing standards. There is a big difference between swatching on your hand and actual application, so I will have a full look and review up soon ❤️ I’m very excited for my gold/orange and green colours… ok I’m excited for all of them!

I have to say it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in a makeup store, with or without the perks. I haven’t been this excited about a palette in a long time! 😊

Has anyone else ever been into a NYX Professional Makeup store?

Thanks for stopping by!

April Favorites

Hello loves!

By golly another month has come and gone!

from my perspective, March felt like the longest month to ever exist, and then April has gone by in a blink! Between school, work and everything in between I can see summer approaching quickly and I love it!

This month’s favourites are really a good mix of new products since I have been in the city and have more exciting products right at my fingertips. I can already tell next month is going to be a whopper too 😉

The first product I have been over the moon about is the Batiste Rose Gold dry shampoo. This is my saving grace during the school week when I don’t have time to wash my mane 😛 I have very thick bouncy hair yet somehow 2 days after washing the roots get super oily and everything else is fine. Therefore washing my hair becomes a super big chore and it takes ages to dry. This is where Batiste has really impressed me. When I think dry shampoo I used to thing strong scents with crusty white residue. They must have reformulated it or something because I love the limited edition scent and the texture is very light but effective. Not to mention I got completely sucked in by the pretty rose gold packaging! I’m a real sucker for rose gold hehe.

Next is the Ombra Hand Care Lotion. Something about this hand cream is perfect to me. First off its tiny making it perfect for my handbag and just the right amount to carry. Secondly, I really love the scent of it. It’s something like a very light strawberry scent 🍓 And lastly, it actually does a good job of keeping my hands hydrated. Since I’ve been in school I’m using my hands way more. They get exposed to soaps, makeup removers, the list goes on. It took a toll on my hands and working that close to someone’s face you know they see everything (including my crusty looking hands lol!) . I have to admit I was a hand lotion hater for a long time. Call me crazy but having cream on my hands always felt terrible and greasy. Yet, somehow Ombra has made a hand cream that isn’t greasy and soaks in right away. My hands felt good right after applying it, not five times after like other hand creams. Also they do not use harsh perfumes so there was no burning or redness after using it. Hallelujah!

Eau Roma water has quickly climbed its way into my favourites and becomes probably one of my top products out of all my favourites this month. I’m almost out of it, that’s how much I use it! It’s a gentle rosewater based toner and it’s helped reduce so much redness on my face. It’s very hydrating and I even give myself a little spritz to freshen up sometimes :p

(I feel like my favourites are light on the makeup this month because I’ve just been focusing so hard on getting my skin back into good condition for the summer :P)

My next favourite is another Lush item *surprise* and it’s the Ultrabland cleanser. My skin has not felt dry ever since using this delicious honey-scented and beeswax cream cleanser. I look and feel so glowy after I use it, it’s like my skin has been resuscitated! And I love how easy it is to use. Just massage into the face and wipe away with a damp cloth. Easy! No soapy, bubbly mess. Just yummy soft skin after ❤️

The 2 makeup items I have been crazy about are the Maybelline Fit Me concealer and the Colourpop Liquid lipstick in Star Crossed. The Fit Me concealer is a lifesaver during the school week. I wake up in the morning looking like a zombie and then emerge from my bathroom looking awake and bright! I can also use it for all over my face and it still feels light and natural. Having multi purpose items is a must have for me especially when packing for school!

And I have simply fallen in love with a red lip again, and Star Crossed is your classic, perfect shade of red. Not too cool toned, and not too warm either. The Colourpop formula makes it so easy to apply and stay put. I apply 2 thin layers letting it dry in between and I’m ready to tackle my day. The particular shade I have is very ‘Marilyn Monroe’ and makes me feel like a goddess 💋

I have recently tried to ease up on my social media time and concentrate more on my creativity thus making this book my favourite thing to write in during my down time. Is basically a book filled with writing prompts about life. It asks you what your first kiss was, what your childhood bedroom was like and even what your first experience with real tragedy was. It’s all about your life and is a wonderful place to keep track of all your memories and future endeavours. I got this from Indigo and I feel it’s helped me relax and expand my mind more.

Lastly, I have been reading a lot more in April. I finished ‘The Curious Incident Of the Dog in the Nighttime’ and swiftly moved into a new book. This one is called ‘Too Close to the Falls’ and it follows the life of an eccentric little girl from the ages of 5-12 years old. It is a memoir which makes it even more incredible. So far I’ve loved it, and it is so brilliant reading from a kids perspective. I can’t put it down but I don’t want to read it too quick haha! I totally recommend it. 😊

Do you guys have any favourite books or creative outlets you’ve been loving this month?

Happy Thursday everyone!

Life Changes and Becoming a Makeup Artist 👩‍🎨

Hello loves!

I know I’ve been radio silent for the last few weeks (more than a month yikes) but I promise I have a very great reason why!

If the title didn’t give it away I’ve been going to school to become a makeup artist! My course is one year long, and is and jam packed with knowledge ranging from beauty and bridal to special fx and gore. I won’t mention which school but I’ll give you a hint… it’s the top Makeup School in all of Canada 🙈❤️ Okay, it’s Blanche Macdonald! (Eek! 🎉)

Here’s a little snap from first days set up! The fun thing is as you learn your own rhythm of working, this set up can change, though mine is still very similar to this 😛

I’ve been eating up every second of it and every week is a new adventure for me. My confidence grows every day and I’ve learned to just go for it and try new things every day!

Along with that I’ve been learning a lot of new lessons in life, how to deal with all sorts of people, and conquering my anxiety one day at a time. I won’t talk too much about the negative but I’ll touch down on some of the more fun trivial things I’ve leaned.

1) Invest in your skincare. This seems a bit weird to be my top tip, but just as we wear our heart on our sleeve we tend to wear our stress on our face. Whether it’s from being exposed to harsh environments in the city or stressing over a test it’s important to help ease your skin along with your emotions. Also having makeup put on and then taken off, (sometimes on again) really takes a toll on the skin 😮 I feel like every week I get one blemish gone and another pops up right after it. Thankfully my ew goodies have mostly kept it at bay.

These are a few goodies I decided to invest in. Ultrabland cleanser is a wonderfully light oil based cleanser that really lifts the dirt and leftover makeup so easily from your face. After that I use their toner (not pictured) called Eau Roma water, and spritz all over my face. Then I wipe everything off with a cotton pad or two, and boy does that get the impurities off of your face. I sometimes do a final spritz just to really soak in the skin. Eau Roma Water is a hydrating toner (no alcohol in it) so you can even spritz yourself through the day to freshen up! Then I was on a roll and returned some Lush containers and received a free face mask called ‘Oatfix‘. I chose that one specifically for sensitive skin that needed some help. 😊 I am so lucky that where I’m staying I have a Lush only a 10 min walk away! It’s such a treat!

2) Take time for yourself, anxiety can always catch up with you. I’m sure I’m not the first person whose experienced anxiety in some form and thought ‘I was doing so good why is this happening?’. Usually I say let the good times roll, but it’s important to leave time for yourself and having some bliss. This for me has meant unplugging from social media for a while and working on myself. I was so proud that I had ‘conquered 3 weeks at school with feeling no stress or anxiety’. Well that caught up to me in a big way and I’ll just say it’s taken me a week and a half to get back to feeling relatively normal. It’s hard to do things like blogging and other creative outlets that you pour yourself into when you feel yourself being unhinged. I feel tempted to write myself a letter for the future if this ever happens again and reassure myself I can get through it no matter how excruciating and impossible it seems. It’s so hard to imagine the good when you’re surrounded by negative thoughts and feelings in your head.

Anyway, this is the quote from my planner this week and I think it’s wonderfully accurate.

3) Not everything is as it seems. This is mostly for myself. Starting my program, (and even now still) I thought my skill set was ok, but I was there to learn and that was that. I love makeup so I felt a tremendous amount of pressure to do great, but I also walked in believing I wouldn’t do as good as others because my skills were not as exercised. It seems I am doing quite well in the course and this is more of a high five to myself, not bragging in any way. There were numerous makeup applications and techniques that I immediately wrote myself off as ‘doomed to fail’ and then I applied them really well! I was convinced I couldn’t do it yet there I was doing it! This months celebration was applying false lashes. I’ve never done it, there I said it. Really only once to myself but never to anyone else. I am a falsie rookie all the way. As I anxiously held the strip lash in my tweezers I had ‘you’re going to mess up’ bouncing around in my head as well as ‘please god don’t let this end up in her eyebrow somehow’. I went in, did my best, and by some miracle applied it perfectly. That small (but powerful) voice in my head was cheering in the background, knowing I could do it all along. Don’t doubt yourself before you’ve even tried.

On a positive note I’ve been reading more since going to school. It feels like reading is more relaxing now where I used to think that watching YouTube was. But now if I watch videos I tend to fall asleep haha. So my favourite book as of the moment is ‘The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time’.

I won’t go into detail but the perspective of this book is so incredibly different and refreshing I cannot get enough of it. The narrative is charming, real, and funny.

Also I’ve been giving myself little treats for my ‘accomplishments’, just like sweets and whatnot (sounds so silly but it works) And the first week I was hugely spoiled with cinnamon buns from my Aunty. They were delightful. 😋

Anyhoo, It’s been an absolute roller coaster to say the least but I feel myself getting used to my new routine, and my confidence is growing strong every day. I’ve started running again and it feels amazing and relieves so much anxiety I forgot how much I love it and need to to it. My favourite thing to do is to run down and along the beach (when it’s not raining haha)

Spring has definitely sprung despite the rain clouds moving in in the last few days!

You’ll have to forgive me for how absent I’ve been, it’s even taken me multiple times just to write this one post 😂 between school, homework, work, family and relationships there’s not a huge amount of downtime sometimes. I’m very much looking forward to the next few days as it is Easter and all the family is up and I am home!

Have a lovely day!~M

Rejuvenating Post-Weekend Mask (recipe)

Hello loves!

Most people call me crazy, but Sunday’s are actually one of my favourite days. Whether you wake up early (like me) or you have a lay-in, Sunday’s are just one of the calmest days. You can use it to putter or get life organized.

My favourite thing to do on Sunday (or any day, I know some of us work the weekend) is to treat myself to a face mask. Personally, after the late nights, the makeup, and lazy face washing, my skin typically needs some serious resuscitating.

I want to focus on detoxing and brightening today so my mask will include:

White clay ☁️ is the first ingredient. This is a typical base for many face masks because of how easy it is to use and it’s wonderful texture. It has a very fine consistency so it doesn’t dry out your skin, but it still softens and gently exfoliates without any harsh scrubbing. It also has wonderful purifying qualities and cleanses deeply to remove stubborn dirt and oil.

Cucumber juice! 🥒 When you see people wearing cucumber slices in the movie it isn’t just to play up the cliché of a girls spa day. Cucumber juice is amazing for reducing puffiness (hence putting them on your eyes) When you add a bit of the juice to your skin care it can also have a very soothing effect on your skin. The active vitamin in it is Vitamin C believe it or not, and the acid in it is what creates that soothing effect. Also found in cucumber is Caffeic acid and is common in many vegetables, fruits and coffee. It also helps to calm puffiness and swelling. I will slice up 3 slices and then squish the cucumber until it’s a pulp.

Lemon Juice 🍋 Another great natural acid for your skin. I’m only going to use a small amount (about 1 teaspoon) so I don’t overdo it. The acid in lemon is a great antibacterial agent as well if Tea Tree oil is too strong. I find lemon juice is more gentle for an all over use. Plus lemon is great for clearing out blackheads. For me, my chin and nose are the worst for blackheads and oily skin, and I will layer this extra on those parts.

Lavender Pods 💐 They act as a great exfoliant since they’re more chunky thank the clay. Lavender oil itself is great for healing scars and is especially great for acne scars. I

Avocado oil 🥑 I use just a few drops to soften the skin while the other amazing ingredients do their work.

Once you mix up your ingredients apply fresh to your face as soon as possible! Using fresh ingredients in your face mask means live vitamins being absorbed directly into the skin.

I leave this mask on for about 10-15 mins. You will feel the acid from the lemon juice ‘tingling’. This is it acting as a chemical exfoliant. The lemon an cucumber make this face mask smell so fresh!

While washing off the mask I massage it into my face and let the clay and lavender do their work.

Then once I wash it off I apply my moisturizer and finish my skin care routine. I feel like a brand new woman after! 😊 The next morning my skin always feels incredibly soft too.

Thanks for stopping by!
