The Best Detox Mask 🌿🌱

Hello everyone!

How are you doing on this fine, fabulous Friday? 😊

Today I wanted to share with you my favourite holy grail face mask. It not only removes impurities but adds antioxidants and important nutrients back into the skin.

I wanted to call it something funny like ‘Mean Greeny’, but I didn’t think it would be a very attractive title 😂 Instead I will call it the Best Detox Mask! (ever?)

For the base, I started with Bentonite Clay which is the most common ingredient in clay masks. It is a lightweight clay that is best used to rid your pores of any dirt, oil, or lingering toxins. Secondly, this clay helps with the healing of acne and can help lighten past acne scars.

Like I said this mask is all about being green! So it was a no-brainer to add Spirulina Algae to the mix. This algae, in particular, is a powerhouse of antioxidants which can reduce signs of ageing and are just important for the general well being of our skin, after all the epidermis is the largest organ we have! Spirulina algae are also filled with amino acids which help with the hydration of the skin and help with the elasticity.

If you don’t have Spirulina Algae lying around the house, Spinach can even be a good substitute since it is also high in antioxidants and vitamins.

Lastly, if you want this to be a healing mask as well as a detoxing one, adding honey can add a whole new list of benefits. Honey is best known for its antibacterial qualities making it amazing for soothing and healing acne. It also contains antioxidants that help slow the ageing of our skin, AND last but not least, gives your skin that wonderful glow afterwards.

I felt such a difference after using this face mask I would not speak about it so passionately if it didn’t help as much as it did! More amazingly I can’t believe it was (kind of) a fluke haha! I try many different recipes and some flop (very hard) and some work wonders. This just happens to be one of the lucky ones!

I also feel very strongly about using organic and ethically sourced ingredients too, so when I make my own face masks I know exactly where the ingredients are coming from, and the quality of them.

A big shout out to Oleum Vera for being an amazing organic brand that makes amazing starter kits so you can create your own face masks. (No this is not sponsored by them 😛 I wish haha!)

Let me know if you guys like more of these skincare posts, I certainly love writing them and sharing my experiences 🙂

Have a wonderful Friday everyone!

Food For Your Face

I’ve recently become more aware of the products I’m using on my skin, what they actually do, and where it comes from. Much like eating healthy and knowing where your food is from, the same goes for your skin care and what you put on your face.

While on this journey, I started loving making my own face masks. There is something so satisfying knowing all the ingredients in them, and what their benefits are.

Today I made my face mask focusing on what is nutritious for my skin.

To start I used…

White Clay Base:

This is excellent for clearing your skin of impurities and goes deep into your pores to extract dirt and oil. I love using white clay for an extra clean feel before finishing my nighttime routine.

Spirulina Algae:

You might know algae as that funny green stuff you find growing outside. However, when grown organically and USDA approved it does wonders for one’s skin. It is full of vitamins and it is particularly packed with detoxifying nutrients. Just don’t be scared of it’s funky smell and bright green colour.

Rose Petals:

I’m going to be honest, when I first saw rose petals as part of a face mask I thought it was just some hooey to make the face mask look prettier and sound nicer. In reality, rose petals contain wonderful oils that act as a moisturizer, helping even the dryest skin. On top of that the sugars they contain add a wonderful glow to your complexion. I have dried rose petals since they are much more convenient, but the fresher the ingredients the more nutritious it is to the skin.

Avocado Oil:

Plain and simple Avocado oil is a powerhouse for moisturizing and softening your skin. You don’t need much, just a couple drops will revitalize your complexion.

Tea Tree oil:

I’m sure by now everyone knows my raving reviews on Tea Tree oil, but I wouldn’t be so nutty about something if it didn’t work such wonders. I get bad acne on my chin (especially around that time of the month) and Tea Tree oil is the best acne treatment I have ever found. Because of its anti inflammatory qualities and warm soothing tingle, I love including it in my face masks, even store-bought ones.

This is what I call my Detoxifying Glow Mask! 🙂 there are so many yummy ingredients to choose from I can’t wait to share more amazing ones with you!

DIY Face Mask kit?

Upon receiving this from my Mum for my birthday, I had no idea there was such a thing as a DIY Organic Face Mask. I am so in love and haven’t been that excited over a skin care product in a long time.

The brand is called Oleum Vera.

The packaging is simple but aesthetically pleasing. I love the natural but high quality look to it.

The product itself is also very high quality, and it’s all certified organic.

Also a big props to how eco friendly the company is, they provide all of their recipes online to reduce paper waste. I also thought it was interesting that while the packaging was properly sealed, they did not have any pull tabs or tear off seals, again reducing the amount of plastic waste.

My first mask I made out of Algae and White Clay. It detoxified and firmed (from the white clay) and had anti-aging qualities (from the algae), and softened my skin with Avocado oil. 😊

What comes in the kit:

• 2 White Kaolin Clay packs

• 1 Spitulina Algae pack

• 1 Bentonite Clay pack

• 1 Lavender bud pack

• 1 Rose petal pack

• 1 mini bottle of Avocado oil

•1 mixing container, mini silicon spatula, and removable dish.

It also came with a little letter explaining a bit about the company and where to find their recipes.

I had a look at the website and they have an extensive collection of mask kits, not just for your face, but for hair and body too! I think the concept is so creative and it lets you really specialize your skin care routine. You can even use other natural ingredients that you own and incorporate them into the ingredients they give you and create a whole new mask.

This is the website HERE! I am in no way associated with this brand or being paid to say anything I honestly just fell in love with these products and wanted to share my love for them!

Hope everyone has had a wonderful New Year and Holiday, and I’m happy to be back after my Christmas hiatus 😁

Thanks for stopping by, and if you have tried this kit too, please let me know in the comments! ❤️
