May Favourites 🌵

Hello everyone!

It feels like I just did a favourites post! I have no idea where time has gone. 😱

April and May have gone by in a blink and I’m not sure how I feel about that haha! Looking back they were 2 of the best months I’ve had in a long time and things just keep getting better! I’ve been cleansed of many nuisances and reconnected with myself and what makes me truly happy. I got to put my priorities first for the first time in a long time, and I feel like myself again.

Life update over haha! Onto this May’s favourites! This month is heavy on skincare and home decor.

My first favourite has been my saving grace at school and at home for removing makeup. It is the Garnier Micellar Water in the normal to sensitive formula.

At school, we are putting on makeup and taking it off all the time. Sometimes 2 or 3 times a day! We have to do it quickly but thoroughly, and that can be a tough combination to find in a skin cleanser.

This is so gentle yet removes all the makeup and dirt from my skin in one soft sweep. I feel polished and clean after but not dried out.

Next will be no shock at all and it is The Ordinary skin care line, specifically Buffet, the Caffeine Solution, and my newest love the 100% Plant-Derived Squalane hydrating oil.

I have already raved about Buffet and the Caffeine Solution in this blog post HERE

The 100% Plant Derived Squalane Oil has really changed my skincare in ways I never thought it could. I have always had dry-ish skin and thought that it was normal. Never getting better, but never getting worse. One day our teacher was raving about how amazing the Squalane oil was and how it was a perfect primer to put on before makeup. I couldn’t help but be in awe at the effects it had on our skin and bought it the first chance I had. I’ve been using it every night and its provided SUCH relief to my skin! I wish I knew about it sooner. It is a thin oil that you smooth on your skin after moisturizing (I use it just before bed). I have seen such a difference I feel like it has rekindled my love of wearing makeup because my skin looks so amazing and healthy. This is definitely my #1 favourite for May and will probably continue on into June 😛

My next two favourites are homeware items and will be no surprise to you if you follow me on Instagram or here. They are the Coconut Leaves candle from Bath and BodyWorks, and my cute Cactus Mason Jar cup that I picked up from the dollar store. I love the fresh tropical scent of the Coconut Leaves candle, I never get tired of it. Along with that, my Cactus Mason Jar cup is just the perfect vessel for a mojito cocktail or mocktail.

Next, I have totally gotten back into making my own face masks! It’s so satisfying to create your own customized face mask and to know all the ingredients are organic and ethically sourced. This mask specifically is made with Spirulina Algae.🌿

May’s favourites were definitely very skincare heavy but it has been paying off! I feel like a brand new person!

Hope you had a fabulous month of May! Did any of my favourites make it on your list too? 😛

Summer Décor 🌿

Hello!

As many of you may know, one of my favourite things to do each season is to re-decorate my bedroom.

I just get so excited to reorganize and add my own little theme. My spring/summer theme is definitely green and white!

I’ve been posting my favourite tidbits on Instagram, but I figured some (or lots) of you don’t follow me there so I thought I’d share them on here too! If you want to follow my Instagram you can do so by clicking here 😊

I will start with what inspired my whole room redecorating in the first place: the Coconut Leaves candle from Bath and Body Works.

This candle has been lit in my room every chance I get. The smell is so fresh and summery. It puts me in the best mood when I light it! I have to keep myself from buying more from Bath and Body Works haha! I may or may not have a small candle obsession…

Speaking of Bath and Body Works, I’ve been using their Mint Mojito foaming hand soap. I am getting low on this one so I may need to stock up…

Not only does it smell delicious but it also has coconut oil in it to keep my hands soft.

Like I said, green and white are my favourite right now. Even when I pick a soap bottle I’m matching it to my room décor! 😆

I’ve been keeping my bedding fairly simple now that the warmer weather has hit. I feel like Fall and winter are the months where I like to pack on the pillows, and then Spring and Summer I lighten up on them.

This little Cactus pillow is from Forever 21, but from last years selection. I love how bright it is and the cartoony design is refreshing. It’s made from a canvas material so it’s strong and durable. I love having fancy bedding, but I hate worrying about staining things, or them falling apart.

My last and most favourite piece is this little china jewelry holder. My Aunty gave it to me and this is in my room all year round! 😆 She knows me so well and knows my love of vintage. 💕 It’s the best place to put my favourite rings, necklaces and even my favourite makeup items so I always know where they are when I’m on the go.

I hope everyone is having a lovely week so far!

How I Style My Room in January ❤️

It’s a new year! Hello my lovelies! 💕

My bedroom really is the centre of my life. Not to say that in an anti-social sort of way, but in a way that it’s the one place I think we can agree we feel the most calm. At least that’s where I believe we should feel most calm.

When the New Year comes around I often take it as inspiration to redecorate and freshen up my room. I want my room to be the perfect work and chill space.

I hate the feeling of taking down all the beautiful Christmas lights and being left with *ahem* much less exciting decor.

So I thought I would share how I redecorate and style my room for January, keeping the positive vibes going you could say 😛

To start out I love having new bedding! I received a new Duvet cover and pillow slips for Christmas this year, as well as a beautiful fuzzy throw blanket. It was a no brainer that my redecorating would include both.

I love pillows but I always keep myself to a maximum of 3 or 4.

Along with new bedding, I am always looking for fun new ways to decorate and store all my knick knacks. I was recently given a vintage style cake holder, and am using it to hold my perfumes (while there are no cakes to put on it)

I also tend to keep my room full of positive quotes and energy. 💕

While Christmas is over for everyone , in Canada winter is just beginning! I tend to keep around a few winter themed statement pieces, and I will keep my lights up for a bit longer.

I am a sucker for vintage decor, hence why my room has a overall very traditional feel to it.

At my desk I try and keep it clean and de-cluttered. This is where I work on my blog or just watch YouTube. I love succulents and I believe they can really add life to a room. One of my friends gave me these adorable Air Plants for Christmas and I immediately fell in love. It’s nice having that little touch of life in your room.

This is usually when I take a break from candles (meaning I’m not burning 5 at once lol) and move towards lighter scents. This is a pear and ginger scented candle by Aromabotanical. ❤️

I like my room to be as organized and peaceful as my mindset going into the New Year. It’s a tacky saying (I know), but I honestly live by it!

I hope everyone is having a tranquil new year so far!
