How I Style My Room in January โค๏ธ

It’s a new year! Hello my lovelies! ๐Ÿ’•

My bedroom really is the centre of my life. Not to say that in an anti-social sort of way, but in a way that it’s the one place I think we can agree we feel the most calm. At least that’s where I believe we should feel most calm.

When the New Year comes around I often take it as inspiration to redecorate and freshen up my room. I want my room to be the perfect work and chill space.

I hate the feeling of taking down all the beautiful Christmas lights and being left with *ahem* much less exciting decor.

So I thought I would share how I redecorate and style my room for January, keeping the positive vibes going you could say ๐Ÿ˜›

To start out I love having new bedding! I received a new Duvet cover and pillow slips for Christmas this year, as well as a beautiful fuzzy throw blanket. It was a no brainer that my redecorating would include both.

I love pillows but I always keep myself to a maximum of 3 or 4.

Along with new bedding, I am always looking for fun new ways to decorate and store all my knick knacks. I was recently given a vintage style cake holder, and am using it to hold my perfumes (while there are no cakes to put on it)

I also tend to keep my room full of positive quotes and energy. ๐Ÿ’•

While Christmas is over for everyone , in Canada winter is just beginning! I tend to keep around a few winter themed statement pieces, and I will keep my lights up for a bit longer.

I am a sucker for vintage decor, hence why my room has a overall very traditional feel to it.

At my desk I try and keep it clean and de-cluttered. This is where I work on my blog or just watch YouTube. I love succulents and I believe they can really add life to a room. One of my friends gave me these adorable Air Plants for Christmas and I immediately fell in love. It’s nice having that little touch of life in your room.

This is usually when I take a break from candles (meaning I’m not burning 5 at once lol) and move towards lighter scents. This is a pear and ginger scented candle by Aromabotanical. โค๏ธ

I like my room to be as organized and peaceful as my mindset going into the New Year. It’s a tacky saying (I know), but I honestly live by it!

I hope everyone is having a tranquil new year so far!

Autumn Outfit Of The Day๐Ÿ’•

Hello loves!

It’s another chilly fall day and I thought I’d share what I decided to wear today ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve really been loving flat lays lately and trying to learn more on how to do them. Let me know any of your tips or tricks on how to do them, I’d love to hear from you!

I’m such a lucky girl in that all these clothes are thrift items! (Except my glasses) ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I don’t know how I get so lucky that I find or are given these clothes ๐Ÿ’•

Basically I’ve been living in my Hollister sweater for the months of October and now in November. To match I’m wearing Hollister jeans with beautiful embroidery and rips all down the legs. Despite what my mum says, yes I’m still warm wearing them ๐Ÿ˜›

Usually to top it off I’ll chuck on a scarf or a snood to tie all the coziness together.

Let me know if you enjoy these fashion type posts!

And what have you been living in this Fall/Winter!

Thanks for reading!

Outfit of The Day

Hello lovely people!

Today’s outfit of the day was inspired by the lush woods of B.C.
The weather seems to be bouncing back and forth between summer heat, and chilly overcast days, so a thin sweater and jean vest, paired with some tights seemed like the perfect combo.

The starring item of this outfit would be my Lugz boots. They are so comfortable, while not sacrificing fashion ๐Ÿ™‚ And good hiking boots never stay clean for long either! Haha!

My tights are from Ardene’s, and they have a very cool pattern to them. Almost a checkered print.

And my shirt is by Volcom, they do great sweaters and hoodies.

To top it all off I have a cut off jean vest that I did indeed cut off myself haha! It was a jean jacket from the thrift store and the arms didn’t quite fit :p

And because its randomly sunny, I gotta have my aviator sunglasses just in case that sun starts to shine!

Christmas Clippings DIY

Two posts in one day? Insanity, I know! haha ๐Ÿ™‚

I have recently just burst into the Christmas mood! Overnight lights have been hung in my room, snowmen put on the window sill, and Buble has been put on repeat!

With that, the DIY season has begun! This is just a really simple trick to add some spirit to your living area, without hurting your wallet.

All I used was: A couple vintage tea pots (this would easily work with Mason jars too) , some sprigs of pine, holly and fur. And lastly just some fun little decorations. I actually recycled an old wreath to re-use some of these goodies!

Pine cones, bows, little plastic birds, and bobbles are just a few of my favorite things to add to these little center pieces.

Once you’ve got your goodies together, let the creativity flow!

I set mine up on my porch with some lovely Christmas lights.ย It gives guests a warm welcome to your home. ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy crafting everyone! โค

Old Faithful

I’m sure we all have certain articles of clothing or specific pairs of shoes that we absolutely love. They are well worn and faithful. You know they go with everything and always fit well.

This is one of my ‘ol faithful’ outfits. A favorite for formal events as it is not too busy or showy, but still creative and unique.
The black bra under was a rather cheeky move for this photo. I normally wear it with a white camisole or some sort of bandeau.
Usually as the night passed I tend to roll up the sleeved to make it feel more casual. A strange but handy tip I have for wearing long sleeve and dress shirts.

Shirt: Material Girl- Lovely brand, and I always thought the pattern was brilliant. Somehow old school meets modern art.

Skirt: Unknown actually- Was gifted to me by a family member who frequents thrift stores, and all the tags were cut out. If you have any ideas let me know!
It is a wonderful solid fabric with beautiful  knot buttons on the side to add a bit of texture.

Shoes: Guess- These were my own big find. The one lovely clothing store we had in town was having a blowout sale and I nabbed these for the heart stopping price of $30. They are my trophies.

Fall: The Real Wardrobe Renewal

ย  ย As fall rolls in a sense of renewal seems to sweep over our lives. ย The leaves begin to change color and shape, and so does our wardrobe. Spring is often seen as the season of cleaning and ‘out with the old’ motto, but Iย find fall is the real season of new beginnings and life inspiration.

Fall undoubtedly is my favorite season specifically for turning over your summer and spring clothes, and bringing out the cozy flannels and onesies. I always uncover old hidden jems in my wardrobe.ย Last year they seemed a bit tired and old, but after a long summer they seem rejuvenated . As well as discovering a new love for some of your ‘greatest hits’ it is always a time you really realize just how many scarves you own, or the abundance of winter coats you have far outweigh the winter months in the year. Fall is a good time to donate to your shelters, or to the local thrift stores around town. As it gets colder people in need seek more shelter and help than ever. Donating to your local thrift store helps put warm clothes that are comfortable and confidence boosting out there for people who need it. Thrift stores are no longer places of worn out dirty sneakers and eighties colored ski jackets that, lets face it, nobody really wants to adopt. They have become a wonderful save haven for those who are strapped for cash, or a treasure trove for those who just love a good thrift hunt. Recycle your clothes! Its a necessary and kind thing to do!

I know its not my usual genre of writing, but I just felt a need to write a bit about this as I thought it needed some light shed on it and perhaps a new light brought to donating to your local Salvation Army, thrift store, second hand store ect.
