Giving My Least Favourite Makeup Another Chance…

Hello loves!

I was recently thinking about the plethora of makeup I own and began to ponder about how much of it I have actually used. (I know dangerous territory haha) I specifically remembered how excited I was when I bought the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette in Los Angeles last year, and the immediate let down I felt when I first tried it. I basically used it twice (maybe) and then put it to rest in the back of my makeup drawer. When I started school in March I put it in my kit in hopes it would get used. It did here and there but not until TODAY have I given it a second chance on my own face.

I created a fun look using the brown and red shades in the palette and I’m not afraid to say I’m loving it… the look that is.

I am still on the fence about a few shades in the palette (specifically the chunky/glittery shades)ย  but quite a few of them have redeemed them self.

The lighter shades like Stark and Skimp are lovely base and highlight shades. They’re indeed very soft and create a great base for other shadows and the taupe shades like Zone and Anaheim go great in the crease and don’t shift in colour once applied.

Now we move to where I had some trouble…

I tried to add Punk into the crease and things got a little sticky. That shade does not blend well at all. It goes on and stays exactly where you put it. The pigment in the darker colours is almost too much to work with (dare I say something can be too pigmented?). I could feel the yucky disappointment creeping in again but I fought it and spent a few extra seconds (minutes… hours who knows lol)ย  blending it out. I realized that its insane pigmentation could work better perhaps as a liner than a shadow, and I was right!

I used Steady as my shimmer shade and I was pleasantly surprised by its creamy consistency. My faith had been slightly restored, to say the least! The shade is beautiful while still being subtle.

All in all, I am happier this time around with the palette than a year ago. I can say that I really like about 75% of the colours and consistency of the palette. ๐Ÿ˜›

Did you like this second chance kind of blog posts where I bring back an ‘oldie’ and give it another try? I feel like I get caught up in needing to have the newest and best makeup and forget about just having fun and being creative with my writing.

Anyhoo I’d love to hear some feedback!

How I Fixed My Skin. Tips and Tricks โœจ

Hello everyone! How are we all doing today?

I feel like the past couple of months have been a heck of a journey for my skin. I took time to really care for my skin and keep on top of a skincare routine. The extra TLC really has made a massive difference!ย

I thought I would share some of the things I learned as I always believe knowledge is power and sharing is caring (see I fit in a double clichรฉ ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Now the big thing I have to say is that my skin is always changing, so just because it is good now, certainly does not mean it’s always perfect. Also, our skin doesn’t define us nor does it define beauty. Acne and other skin conditions are things that are purely out of our control sometimes and we all justย try ourย best to take care of it. โœŒ๏ธโœจ

Alrighty, my first tip might seem a bit funny but DON’T STRESS. Just chill alright? I know, I know life gets busy, crazy and downright unfair but we wear our stress on our face as much as we do our emotions. I know it seems trivial to say, but I recently had a very stressful period of my life end and my skin has basically been healing since then. I don’t know if there’s actually a direct connection between the two, but I’m going to say yes. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Next, drink lots of water! ๐Ÿ’ฆ I know this is what everyone says, but it wouldn’t be said so much if it wasn’t true. I think it is one of the most important tips for good skin health, as well as overall health. I used to think drinking water wasn’t important to skin health until I made a goal to drink about 2 Litres of water a day for other health reasons. I definitely don’t hit my marker some days but the extra hydration has been a saviour. If you find it hard to drink water I have a tip for that too: use a couple drops of Stevia (a natural plant-based sweetener) and add some lemon or a fruit tea to it. It will make the water a lot more tasty ๐Ÿ˜‹

Double Cleansing is my next biggest tip! I think I spoke about this in an earlier post but I decided to put it to the test and practice it regularly. I’ve always had texture on my forehead and it has been a big insecurity of mine. I started to use a charcoal face wash with a soft face cloth to do my second cleanse at night and I really noticed a big difference. I don’t want to sound like a crazy person but I swore I saw results as early as the next morning! It’s also important for face cloth users to make sure you wash your face cloths on the regular. Bacteria grow in damp, warm environments and a yucky face cloth could be causing breakouts.

Lastly isย beingย aware of how much you touch your face. This is so important! I know because my worst habit is touching my face and the acne always follows. Now I don’t mean not touching your face again, but be aware. If you’re out in public, bacteria gets on your hands, and then easily transported to the face when we try to smooth out some creasedย concealerย or scratch that itch on our chin. If I know I’m going out I’ll pack a small brush to do any touch ups and keep a hand sanitizer with me as well.

(Ignore my chippy polish haha ๐Ÿ˜‚)

I was just wearing a bit of moisturizer, bronzer and highlight in this photo. โœŒ๏ธ

Lush Haul โค๏ธ Trying New Goodies

Hello loves!

Feels like I’m finally back with fun blog posts after such a creativity drought!

I feel refreshed and so happy to be back! January has already been amazing and I cannot wait for the coming year. 2018 will be my year!

To celebrate I went and indulged in a little *not so little* Lush haul. They were still having their ‘2 for 1’ deal on Christmas products, but I only snagged a couple Snow Angel bath bombs. Everything else was fairly picked through and really there was only like one shower gel left.

Enough chatter, onto the haul!

I am extra lucky because this haul was basically possible because of my boyfriend and the lovely gift card he gave me for my birthday, so thanks babe! ๐Ÿ˜›

I felt like there were lots of items that I hadn’t tried in a long time, or just flat out forgot existed. So my fave originals are:

Ickle Baby Bot

Twilight

Milky Bar

These cuties are so simple but delicious. I used to pick these up almost every time I would nip into a Lush shop. Then between Halloween and Christmas excitement I forgot all about them!

They all have very simple scents to them, making them an easy choice for any bath time. Twilight is very sweet, Ickle Baby Bot is luxurious lavender, and Milky bar is a wonderful fresh scent.

I also picked up some returning favourites like Butterball and Marilyn (hair mask <3)

Specifically I do want to rave about their hot oil hair treatments for a second. When you buy them, they come on the stick as pictured. Once you add the hot water and stir, it transforms into a creamy amazing mask.

I said this before, but with the solid masks you can store them in old Lush pots and re use for later. You don’t have to use all the mask in one go, and you can re-activate with a dash of hot water.

For hair masks I picked up 2, one of them being Marilyn and the other is called Damaged.ย  I thought it would be great for keeping my hair moisturized despite the crappy cold weather. If its as good as Marilyn I am in for a great treat!

The last one I want to rave about is Sex Bomb. Until now I didn’t quite get the hype about it and I don’t know why. This little bundle of love is so beautiful and I cannot wait to see what captivating surprises are inside. The funny thing is I bought this a long time ago, so long I’ve completely forgotten what it looked and smelled like!

I will leave a full list below of what I got ๐Ÿ™‚

Who else is already excited for the Valentines day collection?

Snow Angel

Milky Bar

Butterball

Sex Bomb

Twilight

Ickle Baby Bot

How I Style My Room in January โค๏ธ

It’s a new year! Hello my lovelies! ๐Ÿ’•

My bedroom really is the centre of my life. Not to say that in an anti-social sort of way, but in a way that it’s the one place I think we can agree we feel the most calm. At least that’s where I believe we should feel most calm.

When the New Year comes around I often take it as inspiration to redecorate and freshen up my room. I want my room to be the perfect work and chill space.

I hate the feeling of taking down all the beautiful Christmas lights and being left with *ahem* much less exciting decor.

So I thought I would share how I redecorate and style my room for January, keeping the positive vibes going you could say ๐Ÿ˜›

To start out I love having new bedding! I received a new Duvet cover and pillow slips for Christmas this year, as well as a beautiful fuzzy throw blanket. It was a no brainer that my redecorating would include both.

I love pillows but I always keep myself to a maximum of 3 or 4.

Along with new bedding, I am always looking for fun new ways to decorate and store all my knick knacks. I was recently given a vintage style cake holder, and am using it to hold my perfumes (while there are no cakes to put on it)

I also tend to keep my room full of positive quotes and energy. ๐Ÿ’•

While Christmas is over for everyone , in Canada winter is just beginning! I tend to keep around a few winter themed statement pieces, and I will keep my lights up for a bit longer.

I am a sucker for vintage decor, hence why my room has a overall very traditional feel to it.

At my desk I try and keep it clean and de-cluttered. This is where I work on my blog or just watch YouTube. I love succulents and I believe they can really add life to a room. One of my friends gave me these adorable Air Plants for Christmas and I immediately fell in love. It’s nice having that little touch of life in your room.

This is usually when I take a break from candles (meaning I’m not burning 5 at once lol) and move towards lighter scents. This is a pear and ginger scented candle by Aromabotanical. โค๏ธ

I like my room to be as organized and peaceful as my mindset going into the New Year. It’s a tacky saying (I know), but I honestly live by it!

I hope everyone is having a tranquil new year so far!

My Favourite Red Lipsticks for Christmas ๐Ÿ’„

Who doesn’t love a red lip?

Red lipstick looks good on every shade of skin and tone. Finding the perfect red lipstick can be as good as finding chocolate in your stocking! :p

And with the list going on of all the amazing drugstore brand lipsticks, you can find the perfect one without sacrificing your wallet this Christmas.

The swatches match the photos from right to left ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’‹

Starting off with the Revlon Colour Stay Moisture Stain: I have purchased 3 of these over all, and have used all of them religiously. Upon first application the texture is light and airy, but glossy and full of pigment. For someone who is strictly a matte lip kinda gal, this really says something. This is a more expensive drugstore item but worth it for the double feature of a lipstick and a lip stain. Here I have the shades Miami Fever and Shanghai Sizzle. Next sticking with the theme of glossy red lips I love the NYX Xtreme Shine Lip Cream in the shade Absolute Red. This is a high gloss, high pigment lipstick for that perfect Marilyn Monroe pout. My pointer, invent in a good lip liner to avoid and bleeding lines. ๐Ÿ’‹

I have 2 NYX Matte Lipsticks that are ride or die in my makeup bag Indie Flick and Merlot. Indie Flick is and orange red and is vibrant and bright for the holidays, where Merlot has shades of purple in it, perfect for sultry winter evenings. Both are True Matte Lipsticks, semi dry down, without drying out your lips.

Rimmel Kate Moss in Shade 10: This lipstick was highly influenced by my favourite Youtuber/blogger Zoella, who swears by this lipstick and so do I. This particular shade is the most classic red in my mind and when used with a lipliner and brush, you can create the most precise red lip, for a low price.

Last but not least is the highest priced lip to from Ciate London in the shade Diva. This is a mousse lipstick and half drys down on the lips. I’ve spoken about this before, and while it’s not a true Matte, the texture it creates is worth the few smudges here and there. Plus I have to shoutout to the applicator for being a perfect doe-foot applicator for a red lip on the go!

I hope everyone had been enjoying their lead up to the holidays! Happy (almost) Holidays everyone!

Lush 12 Days of Christmas unboxing ๐ŸŽ

Hello everyone! And Happy December! ๐ŸŽ„ I can’t quite wrap my head around it yet, but I can feel the countdown is on! December is my favourite month (not just because of my birthday hehe) but because of all the festivities and family getting together โค๏ธ

I was dancing with excitement when I got my Lush 12 Days of Christmas in the mail. Now I felt a tad silly because I had convinced myself that this product was an advant calendar, which it is not. It is in fact a gift box that happens to be filled with 12 fabulous Lush goodies of all varieties. I wasn’t disappointed at all, if fact I was a bit excited that I got to smell EVERYTHING and get a first impression all at once.

So without further ado this is the lovely Lush 12 Days of Christmas Gift Box

Lush does such an amazing job with their packaging, it’s almost impossible to ever recycle any of it! They do state that this is a reusable hat box, so I will definitely be reusing it.

What’s inside?

I was so pleasantly surprised to see that the Lush pre packaging had a little makeover. Any soft items is are sealed in recyclable plastic, which stopped any wear or tear on them, which was one of my only pet peeves with ordering online.

Everything smells amazing in this box, and it’s truly a wonderful gift for anyone (including yourself ๐Ÿ˜œ) It’s filled will all the classic Lush treats that we all know and love, as well as some new ones that will steal your heart!

For a full list of names and ingredients you can find them HERE ๐ŸŽ…

I have to say my 3 favourites so far from the box are: Golden Pear Soap , Santa’s Christmas shower cream, and Shoot for the Stars bah bomb.

Have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by! ๐Ÿ˜Š

How is your week going so far?

Fun question of the week: My brother thinks you should wait until December 1st before you drink any eggnog or listen to Christmas music. Do you agree?

(I’m on the opposing side since I’ve already been listening to Christmas music a bit and had eggnog :p)
